Assessment of Radar Target Threats for Side-Blind Areas in Commercial Vehicles

摘要

Commercial vehicles play a pivotal role in global logistics and transportation, yet they face significant safety challenges due to their size and complex road environments. In this paper, we design a multi-radar fusion system to detect and perceive targets for Side-Bind areas, it effectively improves the accuracy of target detection and reduces the risk of blind spots. Based on the trajectory data from the radar system, threat assessment standards of commercial vehicle have been established for three zones. These standards were developed by analyzing the movement trends of the target and the host vehicle, as well as the states of motion. We can filter targets by calculating the time to collision and distance between the target and the host vehicle. The standards effectively filter potential threat in the blind area, thereby improving the safety of commercial vehicle operation. Compared with the threat assessment that only considers distance, the rationality of these threat assessment standards has been verified by actual measurement data.
